Liveable Cities: Understanding Why We Need To Grow Sustainable Cities

In a dream world, maybe we'd all live in rural lifestyle blocks with our own veggie patches. We’d have ample space around us, our own compost piles, and be self-sufficient. But that can never be a reality for everyone.

Truth is, most of us live in cities. In fact the UN predicts over two thirds of global population will live in cities by 2050. 55% currently live in cities or urban areas.

So, while I love following sustainable farmers on Instagram and I secretly plan to have my own life style block one day, I believe in order to develop society in a way that respects the planet and people, a key focus needs to be on building sustainable cities. That’s why I’m THRILLED to be attending the Liveable Cities Conference in June. Consider coming too?!

Liveable Cities Conference:
Webinar Series 2020

9 June | 16 June | 23 June

The conference is a three-part series designed to equip attendees with advanced strategies for sustainable city creation. I realise I’m no city planner (this will be particularly excellent for planners and general sustainability consultants!), but as an active citizen, I’m really excited to learn more about how liveable/sustainable cities are created, be encouraged by successful case studies, and learn how I can play a part in fostering sustainable cities.

The webinar series is held in three parts, and each session is 2.5 hours long (online of course). During each session, attendees (that’s me, and hopefully you too!) will hear from a vast range of experts in the field, hear about future projects and those already happening, and have the opportunity to ask questions and network with others in this space.

Here’s the schedule break down:

WEBINAR 1: Obtain vital knowledge and tools you need to achieve your goals though the tuition of successfully proven case studies

WEBINAR 2: Unlock social, environmental and economical opportunities through a value-driven approach presented by keynote speakers

WEBINAR 3: Discover what makes a sustainable, liveable city and bring nature back to urban areas

Pre-webinar, I have reflected on the things I think will be discussed by the speakers, and the sustainable city activities I’ve witnessed or been part of…
